1005 East Jackson Ave. Oxford, MS

Circa 1848. Greek Revival style home

Thomas N. "Tom" Wendel was a prosperous Oxford merchant who operated his business in the 1840s/50s. The home survived the Oxford Square burning in 1864. Post-war, because of his reputation and huge volume of business, his "Yankee" creditors worked with him to settle old debts and resume their business with him.

After the Civil War, the home served several purposes: a boarding house, a convalescent home, a hotel, an apartment building, and most recently, a retail store (since 2021)- O.J. (Olive Juice) Kids (Erin and Council Young opened Olive Juice Gifts in 2011). NRHP 1980
