From Memphis Heritage

Asbury Crenshaw (1782-1850), his son Thomas Charles Crenshaw (?-1858), daughter-in-law Ellen Feild Crenshaw, and her orphaned brother Roscoe Feild (1822-1913) were the first owners. Their farm is on the eastern outskirts of Shelby Co. and the Cordova community.

The Crenshaw family was unusual in that they emigrated from Virginia as a multi-generational family unit. They were prosperous farmers and eventually amassed about 1,380 acres. In 1848, likely from a family squabble, Thomas and the other relatives left the home, and transferred the property to just Asbury’s name.

By 1855, the Crenshaw estate had a lawsuit resolved, and Roscoe Feild was able to purchase the property. Feild remodeled and enlarged the home. He married Emma "Emily" Augusta Ecklin Feild in 1861.

Later, Fields descendants, their daughter Ellen Feild Latting (1875-1972), then her son Alfred Bartlett Latting (1873-1924) and Doris Ward Latting (1906-2004) were owners.  In 2002, Doris Latting owned the property with about 19 acres. The family is remembered with Latting Rd., Latting Lane, Latting Hills Cove Feild Creek and Mt. Airy Dr. . NR 2002
